“The Anatomy of a Movie Poster” is the newest exhibition at Poster House in New York City. On display from now until September 8, 2024 are over 30 movie posters from 1987-2021 by award winning designer Dawn Baillie. Among them are National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Silence of the Lambs, Sleepless in Seattle, The Nutty Professor, The Truman Show, Zoolander, Little Miss Sunshine, Nacho Libre, Birdman, and many of Wes Anderson’s films.

The exhibition is accompanied by museum labels that provide insight into what goes into poster design & the decisions that are made to change aspects like Pantone colors, typography, and composition. You’ll also be able to see the early concepts, layouts, and tools that are used to create some of pop culture’s most recognized movie & teaser posters.

“The Anatomy of a Movie Poster” also tells of how Dawn Baillie got her start in poster design and how she ends up working with industry illustrators & photographers to create these iconic posters. It’s a must-see gallery for movie & pop culture fans! Be sure to visit Poster House‘s website for more information on admission & hours.
