The next stop for the popular Blockbuster Experience tour was Rhode Island Comic Con 2024! In conjunction with the world’s last Blockbuster in Bend, Oregon, this immersive pop-up lets you experience a visit to a Blockbuster store… maybe for the first time! On the 5th floor of the Rhode Island Convention Center, fans can don a blue vest and browse the many retro titles available on VHS, DVD, Blu-ray, and video games too.
Maybe a throwback movie will be playing on the TVs, or a demo of Guitar Hero is set up to try out, but everything including the displays, signage, monitors, and even the iconic “Quik Drop” are genuine pieces from past Blockbuster locations, making this whole experience feel like a true Blockbuster of yesteryear. Not only that, but all of the physical media on display is for sale… for only $5 each! Take home a VHS copy of Monsters Inc. or a Super Nintendo cartridge of Madden ’97. You never know what you’ll find!
Meet Sandi Harding of the last Blockbuster store, take a selfie with nostalgic backdrops, and check out replica membership cards & other memorabilia souvenirs available for purchase at the unmistakable blue & yellow counter. If you’re missing Blockbuster (like us) and can’t make it to Bend, Oregon, The Blockbuster Experience may be coming to a comic con near you for only $10 at the door.
