Another Simple Favor (2025) Movie Review

Stephanie Smothers and Emily Nelson reunite on the island of Capri, Italy, for Emily’s extravagant wedding to a rich Italian businessman, which is interrupted by murder and betrayal.

Another Simple Favor is the sequel to Paul Feig’s A Simple Favor and stars Anna Kendrick, Blake Lively, Henry Golding, and others reprising their roles from the 2018 dark comedy thriller. Joining the cast are Michele Morrone, Allison Janney, Elena Sofia Ricci, and Alex Newell as new supporting characters.

Fans of the first film will enjoy the expansion of the “Favor” lore as Anna Kendrick’s Stephanie Smothers finds herself in yet another predicament thanks to Blake Lively’s Emily Nelson. Whereas in 2018 the mood was gloomy and the colors were muted in the setting of Warfield, Connecticut, we now find ourselves in the vibrant city of Capri, Italy. But just as we learned the first time around, looks can be deceiving and we certainly find ourselves in a lot of trouble, complete with even more twists & turns.

The sequel lands us several years after the fact but gets right to the point. Things get wild and couldn’t possibly be any wilder. Once again, plenty of “laugh out loud” moments, “should I be laughing?” moments, and even some jaw-dropping surprises. I wasn’t expecting them to up the ante but I’m so glad they did!

So if the chemistry, pacing, dialogue, cinematography, etc. were to your liking last time, then you’re in for a similar level of entertainment value. Thanks to the return of the previous Producers, Cinematographer, Editor, and Composer, Another Simple Favor delivers a consistent end result.

Worthy of the R rating, Another Simple Favor is chock-full of profanity, obscenity, and lethality. Brace yourself for Anna Kendrick & Blake Lively’s leveled up performances in this modern day whodunnit. Soak in the stunning visuals. Wrack your brain on some more sleuthing & mindgames. Be moved by the haunting musical score. And even though it won’t be shown on the big screen this time around, definitely watch it with a friend or a group so that you can enjoy all the laughs & gasps with some company!
