“A Goal in Life” (Leo Messi x Refik Anadol Exhibition)

“A Goal in Life” was a limited-time exhibition at Christie’s New York located in Rockefeller Center featuring one-of-a-kind digital art by contemporary artist Refik Anadol. Utilizing art, science, and technology to preserve the memory of Leo Messi’s most meaningful goal of his legendary 20-year career, Anadol was able to re-imagine Messi’s iconic 2009 Champions League final goal in a way we’ve never seen before.

“A Goal in Life” wasn’t just an immersive chamber filled with perpetual graphics but actually an AI data sculpture that implemented 9 unique AI algorithms, biometrics, and multiple camera angles of the 2009 goal, resulting in the visual reconstruction of an unforgettable memory! But the “goal” wasn’t to simply display Anadol’s work: in conjunction with Christie’s, the auction of the Living Memory: Messi – A Goal in Life artwork closed at $1,865,000, with proceeds from the sale benefiting multiple nonprofits, including Inter Miami CF Foundation’s global partnership with UNICF.

The exhibition was on view in NYC from July 12-22, 2025, followed by the auction for Refik Anadol’s 8-minute one-of-one digital art, plus one AP, and a non-fungible token with certificate of authenticity signed by Refik Anadol & Lionel Messi.
