Garden State Comic Fest returned on June 24 & 25 for their 9th year as New Jersey’s coolest comic con! Complete with a 100+ creator Artist Alley, unique vendors, food trucks, and special guests, GSCF took over Morristown’s Mennen Arena for a jam-packed weekend.
Even with a rainy forecast, fans were lined up and ready to meet their favorite artists, writers, and celebrities. This year’s media guests included actor Dan Fogler, MLB player Dwight Gooden, Keone Young, Annie’s Toni Ann Gisondi & Rosanne Sorrentino, Doom Patrol’s April Bowlby & Joivan Wade, and Justice League voice actors Maria Canals-Barrera, Susan Eisenberg, and George Newbern. It’s your chance for a meet & greet, photo op, and/or a personalized autograph just for you!
And as always, the two rinks at GSCF housed a wide variety of booths. Whether it’s the Heroes Hall or the Villains Hall, you’ll find indie artists, mainstream creators, professional cosplayers, 3D printers, Funko Pops, lightsabers, trading cards, and other collectibles. And let’s not forget the giant selection of comic books:
While there were plenty of options to find the books you’ve always wanted, you can also bring your own to get signed by the rows & rows of creators on-site… with even a CGC option to boot! With Agents Of Slabs, fans were taking advantage of witnessed signature grading for hard-to-get names like Walt & Louise Simonson, Greg Hildebrandt, Lee Weeks, Graham Nolan, Tom Mandrake, Jan Duursema, Rick Leonardi… just to name a few! Not to mention, over a hundred others you could meet to obtain original sketches, art prints, and so much more!
GSCF also had great panels featuring some of this year’s guests: a Justice League Q&A, a Doom Patrol Q&A, a look into the comic page process with Kubert School’s Anthony Marques, and even a Charity Art Auction that benefited Eleventh Hour Rescue & Heroes Initiative.
All the while, attendees were repping their favorite fandoms via t-shirts, props, or full-on cosplay:
