Marvel: Universe Of Super Heroes is a brand new exhibition at The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, PA. Featuring hundreds of displays including original art, vintage comics, television & movie costumes, and more, this exhibition is the perfect way to celebrate the 80th year of Marvel Comics and all of its iconic characters like Spider-Man, The Fantastic Four, X-Men, Captain America, and Iron Man.
As you journey through the massive collection of rarities, you not only get to go up close & personal with the artifacts but also learn about the extensive history of Marvel and its universe of superheroes with dedicated stations.
Ranging from the comic books, Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, and even the Netflix series, the exhibit covers much ground, guaranteeing an in-depth look into the massive world of Marvel.
Fans will get to witness immersive experiences throughout the exhibit like photo ops with an upside-down Spider-Man, a life-size Hulk statue, or the ability to enter Doctor Strange’s Mirror Dimension (which also houses the Eye of Agamotto):
And fans of the movies will love the costumes & props on display. With key items such as Norman Osborn’s Green Goblin mask from 2002’s Spider-Man, Thor’s Mjölnir, and Captain America’s shield, you’ll start believing that Nick Fury could walk in at any second!
Some of the exceptional artifacts at Marvel: Universe Of Super Heroes were original key issues of Marvel Comics #1 (1939), Fantastic Four #1 (1961), and Amazing Fantasy #15 (1962)!
In fine condition, too, these books were beautifully displayed in glass cases where collectors and enthusiasts could appreciate them:
But you’ll want to stop and examine the original art, concepts, and layouts trickled all throughout the exhibition!
Indicated with placards, you’ll find pages, covers, and commissions by the original artists & creators. Some examples include The Amazing Spider-Man #129, Wolverine #1, and much much more!
And what better way to tie everything together than with a touching tribute to Stan Lee?
Before he was the “King Of Cameos”, Stan Lee was a primary creative leader at Marvel Comics for decades and was responsible for the creation of many of the iconic heroes we know today! This section of the exhibit touches upon his influence and a rotation of his appearances in every Marvel Cinematic Universe movie to date:
On your way out, be sure to stop by the exhibition gift shop which is complete with books, apparel, toys, and exclusives:
But hurry! This special exhibition only runs from April 13, 2019 to September 2, 2019. After that, Marvel: Universe Of Super Heroes will get snapped away…
