Retro Con returned bigger and better than ever! Following last year’s 10th anniversary show, this year’s convention took over Hall A at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA on September 9 & 10. With all things vintage & retro, this is an event that collectors will not want to miss!
Featuring throwback collectibles, apparel, video games, and more, you can expect to find fan favorite properties such as Transformers, Star Wars, GI Joe, Masters of the Universe, Care Bears, My Little Pony, Hot Wheels, and even modern classics like Marvel Legends, WWE, Pokemon, and Funko Pops.
We’re talking about over 400 tables of memorabilia for sale from nearly 200 vendors & artists from all over the country: Pac-Rats, Brooke’s Nook, Retro Ed, Digital Delightz, 8bit Fusion, The Pokehut, Toy Cantina, DBlake Makes, and Cody James… just to name a few! Not to mention special guests from your childhood movies & television shows:
Fans had the opportunity to meet Transformers: The Movie musician Stan Bush (above) for autographs & photos, as well as see him performing live with The Cybertronic Spree on Saturday night. Plus other guests like Sam J. Jones, Greg Evigan, Diane Salinger, voice actors Katie Leigh & Kathy Garver, and a reunion of The Dukes of Hazzard:
John Schneider, Catherine Bach, and Tom Wopat were even taking photos in front of the show’s 1969 Dodge Charger, “General Lee” (above)! And with other iconic cars also on display, like the A-Team Van, Jurassic Park Jeep, and DeLorean, it was the perfect backdrop for photo ops with friends, family, and the occasional cosplayers.
That’s right! At Retro Con, you’ll not only find the coolest collectibles but some of the best cosplay that seems to have jumped right through the screen! And who knows, maybe if you cosplay next time you can enter one of the costume contests that could win you a cash prize!
Either way, there’s much fun to be had at Retro Con. From great panels to free play video game consoles & arcade cabinets (above), it was an action-packed weekend for all ages and all levels of collecting.
In its 11th year, Retro Con continues to be a nostalgic adventure! There’s no other con like it and while 2024 dates have yet to be announced, we know it’s going to be a blast. In the meantime, check out our photo gallery from this year, as well as a video recap below.
