Garden State Comic Fest returned to the Sussex County Fairgrounds on January 27 & 28 for their annual Winter Fest, filling the fair’s Richards and Shotwell buildings with vendors, comic book creators, cosplayers, and special guests like Jenna Rae Frank & Michelle Santiago. It was two days of everything you love about comic book conventions for a fraction of the typical admission!
Featured artists this year included Scott Hanna, Keith Williams, Jan Duursema, and Tom Mandrake… along with dozens of other indie & industry names who fans were meeting to pick up comics, art prints, and even originals such as Len Danovich’s Joker portrait below!
CGC Facilitator Collectible Conservancy was even on-site to assist with Signature Series submissions if you obtained any autographs or sketches on comics. But even if you weren’t able or prepared to commission any artists at the event, many had original art that was ready to go! This is an amazing way to save time and find a completed piece (like sketch cards, covers, etc.) that you can take home right then & there. And if you’re still looking for that missing issue to get signed or to add to your personal collection, definitely try your hand at the 20+ comic book vendors at GSCF including Komic Knights, Undisputed Comics King, NRG Comics, Moving Pictures Comics, and Nemesis Comics & Games (below) who was once again running Magic: The Gathering tournaments.
And not only could you find comics at Garden State Comic Fest but all kinds of collectibles, too! We’re talking about action figures & statues, Funko Pops, TCG & trading cards, lightsabers, playsets, shadow boxes, and even 3D printed items. There was even an opportunity to create a 3D print of yourself with Me In 3D‘s mobile studio located outdoors alongside food truck options via Barnyard, Homer’s Girls, and Sue’s House of Fudge:
Nessie Tea and T’s Freeze Dried Candy also had booths, giving attendees plenty of options for food & drinks without ever leaving the fairgrounds! That, along with the amazing cosplay from both the Saber Guild & all of the passionate fans, makes for a super time at GSCF’s Winter Fest!
Luckily, we don’t have to wait a whole year for another Garden State Comic Fest because their main event at the Mennen Sports Arena in Morristown, NJ is just around the corner, on June 22-23, 2024! In the meantime, check out our full photo gallery and video recap below:
