Christkindlmarkt is one of the largest Christmas markets in the country and has been an annual tradition in Bethlehem, PA (dubbed “Christmas City”) for over 30 years. Featuring artisan vendors, food, entertainment, and other seasonal events, the market is held at the former site of Bethlehem Steel, now known as SteelStacks. Take in some holiday magic while being immersed in Pennsylvanian history every weekend from November 14 through December 21!
This massive market is decked out with lights & decorations outside and filled with an exciting shopping experience inside multiple heated tents. From imported goods to handmade gifts, you’ll get all your Christmas shopping done at Christkindlmarkt: houseware, glass art, woodwork, copper creations, ornaments, jewelry, treats… you name it! It’s your one-stop shop for everyone on your list this season.
Between the four main tents (Fest Haus, Essen Haus, Handwerk Haus, Willkommen Haus), we’re talking about 250 vendors offering unique items such as pottery, soaps, teas, porcelain night lights, oils & vinegars, candles, toys, crystals & stones, Nutcrackers, spirits, herbs & spices, Turkish towels, and photography & art prints. Not to mention a delicious selection of German-inspired cuisine in the food hall (below) including potato pancakes, sausages, Bavarian burgers, pierogies, and strudel, as well as pizza, pasta, baked potatoes, Spam Fries, funnel cake, and an assortment of beverages like cider, eggnog, ginger beer, hot chocolate, coffee, and alcoholic drinks:
But the fun doesn’t stop there! Outside, the Hütte Markt features additional vendors, rentable igloos, bonfires, a Christmas tree, and food trucks serving options which could include poutine, grilled cheese, corn dogs, tacos, and coffee. Plus enjoy Christmas light fixtures all the way down First Street on your way to events like hot glass demonstrations, Santa meet & greets, ice carving, live music, and various photo ops.
