New Jersey’s coolest comic con, Garden State Comic Fest, returned to the Mennen Sports Arena in Morristown for an epic 2 days on June 29 & 30! Featuring legendary comic book creators, celebrities, vendors, cosplay, and even fun for the kids, Garden State Comic Fest was back & bigger than ever!
This year’s headliners included legendary comic book writer & editor Roy Thomas of Marvel Comics, actor Aaron Ashmore from Smallville, and voice actors Michael Bell & Alan Oppenheimer. On top of that, GSCF had nearly 200 other spectacular guests & artists across the 2 rinks in the arena!
Fans have a number of ways to spend their time at this convention!
With a nice variety of vendors, you could go shopping for the latest & greatest in collectibles like LEGO’s, prop replicas, or even Funko Pop figures:
But what makes Garden State Comic Fest stand out from the rest is the incredible selection of comic books and art for sale.
Here you’ll find vendor after vendor specializing in everything from recent back issues to vintage iconic key issues! There’ll be $1 comics, bundle deals, and even graded slabbed comics.
So go ahead and bring your wishlists because chances are you just might find exactly what you’re looking for!
Plus, with the kind of roster we’re dealing with at GSCF, you’ll be able to meet your favorite writers & artists to get your books signed too! This year, grading companies CBCS & CGC (through facilitator Agents Of Slabs) were present to provide grading services as well as Signature Series witnessing.
This way, you’ll be able to encapsulate your precious collectible and rest assured that it will be verified, like this sketch being done by legendary artist Walt Simonson (who, together with his wife Louise, was accepting donations for veteran organization American Legion Auxiliary in exchange for signings & sketches):
There were some fantastic vendors here as well, like NJ Toys And Collectibles, Krav’n Comics, and 3D Printing By Muckychris (who had a very cool Chucky statue based on the new Child’s Play movie in theaters now):
But there was also some great cosplay to be seen too!
On top of the cosplay contest on Sunday, you can find all kinds of costumers roaming the convention. Whether it’s professional cosplayers Saber Guild Corellia or just an enthusiastic fan, you’ll love seeing the time & passion put into each and every costume!
And the same goes for the many artists exhibiting at Garden State Comic Fest!
We loved seeing all the talented creators who had their books, prints, and originals on display. In fact, we were able to pick up a copy of Angel Santiago’s convention exclusive indie book Project Shadow Breed, get a pencil sketched Miles Morales Spider-Man from RC Young, and even get an original sketch cover done by Marvel artist Ashley Witter!
There really is a little bit of everything for everyone!
Be sure to check out the full photo gallery and video at the end of this article for much more.
