Toys R Us Grand Opening at American Dream Mall 2021

Geoffrey the Giraffe is back and his new home is the second biggest mall in the country: American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, NJ! Just in time for the holidays, Toys R Us has made a comeback with a two-story flagship store located in the mall’s Parks Court and December 21 marked its Grand Opening complete with doorbusters, giveaways, and “a million toys at Toys R Us that you can play with”!

Toys R Us kids of all ages congregated at the ribbon cutting ceremony where CEO Yehuda Shmidman greeted everybody and welcomed a lucky young girl to do the honors with Geoffrey himself! It couldn’t have been a more exciting time to walk through the doors of nostalgia again:

Inside the store, special “I’m a Toys R Us Kid” water bottles, containers of slime, and colored pens awaited early birds (limited to 300). The line was already moving quickly but the candy being handed out really “sweetened” the deal!

Not only was the Grand Opening full of notable happenings like live demonstrations of Duncan yo-yo’s, magic tricks, and Squirmle by Carl Zealer, but CEO Yehuda Shmidman even cut a ceremonial cake to kick-off the event! Plus a fine selection of special Toys R Us cookies:

The energy was electric all day and lots of shopping was getting done! It was so great to see the classic blue Toys R Us shopping bags again, this time with an American Dream logo printed on them as well. All your favorite brands could be found at this brand new store: Lego, PLAYMOBIL, Funko, Barbie, Hasbro Gaming, Star Wars, Hot Wheels, Nerf, VTech, L.O.L. Surprise, Razor, Play-Doh, Marvel… the list goes on and on!

By the registers (located on each floor), you’ll find all kinds of checkout trinkets you can add onto your purchase last-minute like mini figures, blind bags, gag gifts, and so much more. And trust me, you’ll need to see it for yourself to believe it because this Toys R Us is going to be your one-stop shop for all your gifts! What makes this new location different is the availability of not only toys but a book section, candy shop, tons of arts & crafts supplies, musical instruments, pretend play accessories, and even mini appliances like popcorn machines!

The Toys R Us flagship at American Dream Mall is just getting started! One of the managers even told us that they’re going to carry even more toys and install additional interactive experiences in the new year (not to mention the upstairs-to-downstairs slide and Geoffrey’s Cafe, both coming soon!), so be on the lookout for those!
