Zapp Comics’ very own Zapp Con made its triumphant return on September 10, 2022 after the Wayne comic book shop’s fourth event was rescheduled due to the pandemic. For an affordable $10 entry fee, attendees were able to experience all of this convention’s amazing features including an Artist Alley, retro gaming challenges, all-day panel programming, hundreds of long boxes (filled with cheap comic books, trade paperbacks, and hardcovers), and some of the best wall books around:
Fans showed up ready to go for the 10am-6pm con (9am for Early Birds), stocking up on key issues, classic Zapp mystery bags of comics, and even blank Zapp Con sketch cards where you could commission an artist at the show for an original drawing! And with an Artist Alley of 50+ creators, you’re bound to walk away with tons of fantastic art.
A slew of artists too long to list included some repeat favorites such as Chris Campana, Ben Harvey, Gary Fields, Nick Justus, Len Danovich, Sarah Madura, and Christian Espiritusanto. For some attendees, it was their first time since the pandemic seeing the latest offerings from these creators, like recently published works and all-new art prints! But feel free to bring art you already own to get signed, or even pick up something new at the show… perhaps the limited edition Zapp Con 2022 exclusive poster (created by Cherry Moth Cake) which you could purchase at the official Zapp Con booth:
You could also pick up supplies here: storage boxes, comic book bags & boards, 11×17 toploaders, and more! Plus, the free parking at the Wayne PAL made it super easy to drop off your pickups throughout the day so that your hands can be freed up for more shopping, gaming, and meet & greets:
Some of this year’s media guests included the 501st Legion, James Michael (with his odd & obscure villains panel), the crew from The Adventures In Collecting podcast, and cosplayers Regal Reign & Megara Hope (above). Not to mention, there were plenty of fans cosplaying at Zapp Con so put on your favorite look and come hang out!
