Retro Con 2022 (10th Anniversary)

Happy 10th Anniversary to Retro Con… Pennsylvania’s very own retro-themed convention! For this milestone event, it returned for another year at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center on September 24 & 25, complete with special guests, programming, and hundreds of tables full of retro & vintage memories! (Stick around for a video walkthrough at the end and a full photo gallery here!)

Fans of Retro Con were back to commemorate the anniversary this year in a huge way as the show floor was even more energetic and as packed as ever! There was definitely way more variety in vendor offerings and everything from your childhood was within arm’s reach. We’re talking about vintage action figures, trading cards, Transformers, board games, Hot Wheels, comics & magazines, Legos, VHS/DVD’s, and even video games & consoles:

Whether you need to rummage for some missing parts & accessories, or you’re hunting down a rare complete set, Retro Con always has an eclectic range of vendors specializing in all things retro… and not just actual blasts from the past, but homages to vintage designs too! This year there were opportunities to purchase modern items with a retro flair like glassware, coasters, apparel, magnets, lanterns, and pixel art.

Not to mention all of the artists set up to sell some amazing custom art. Fan favorites like GeekBoyPress, Mark Pingitore, and Brian Lacy had their prints, posters, trading cards, enamel pins, and other fantastic pieces. But Retro Con is more than just shopping! With fan experiences like the “Retro T-Shirt Contest”, daily raffles, Karaoke Contest, and free arcade play by The Game Is Afoot, there’s tons of fun to be had which costs absolutely nothing. Plus, unbelievable car appearances by some of film & television’s most iconic vehicles:

A Monkeemobile, Back To The Future DeLorean, screen-used Munsters Drag-U-La, and screen-used KITT from Knight Rider (above) were all on the show floor and available for photo ops! But wait… that’s not all!

There were a dozen special guests you could meet for photo ops, autographs, or just to revisit your childhood heroes! From professional cosplayers to veteran voice actors, you could meet stars like the voice of ThunderCats Lion-O: Larry Kenney (above), Sectaurs & Boglins co-creator Tim Clarke, Eddie Munster himself: Butch Patrick, voice actor Venus Terzo, and charity cosplay groups The Finest (G.I. Joe) & The 501st Legion (Star Wars).

But you don’t need to stand in line to see some of the best cosplay around – just look at this rockin’ Slash cosplay! And with plenty more where that came from, you’ll see costumers dressed up as their favorite pop culture characters all weekend long. Feel free to join them with your own cosplay!

There’s ample modern collectibles too, so don’t worry! But if you’re a fan of retro & vintage collectibles and you haven’t visited Retro Con yet… what are you waiting for! This con is for you and you’re not going to want to miss out on the next one. Check out our video below as well as the full photo gallery, and be sure to stay tuned to the Retro Con website for announcements on their next con.
