Phillipsburg High School held its biggest comic con to date on May 11, 2024. Hosted by PHS’s Comic Club, Anime & Manga Club, and Club Unify, Phillipsburg Comic-Con featured nearly 100 tables of artists, writers, cartoonists, publishers, and vendors of collectibles like action figures, video games, apparel, Funko Pops, trading cards, and, of course, comic books.

From 10am-4pm, attendees were lining up to meet legendary creators like Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez, Fabian Nicieza, Lee Weeks, and Darryl “DMC” McDaniels who was voted by students as the most anticipated guest of the con:

For just $5 at the door, you’ll not only be able to shop for pop culture memorabilia but also have the opportunity to meet notable names in the comic book industry like Scott Hanna, Bob Sharen, Amy Chu, Rudy Nebres, Keith Williams, Chris Campana, Ben Harvey, Rags Morales, and George Vega…. Purchase original art, get comics signed, talk about their works, and even pick up some art prints! This year, a canned food donation got you an exclusive Batman & Robin print created for the con by artists Franco & Art Baltazar (who, if you were lucky, even colored it!):

Plus, enter raffles for local business prizes, sift through Free Comic Book Day 2024 offerings, partake in a pizza/hot dog lunch, and claim a complimentary book by sponsors IDW, Boom!, and VIZ… all free with admission! This year the silent auction also returned for a chance to win amazing items like signed art prints, posters, and more:

And when you’re not browsing the floor, Phillipsburg Comic-Con always offers exciting programming throughout the day. Whether it’s kids’ activities like face painting & various crafts to win art supplies, or panels like a Spider-Man/Deadpool info session (below) & a Q&A with Brian Michael Bendis… there’s a little bit of something for everyone!

You won’t want to miss the next Phillipsburg Comic-Con for their 10th year! Be sure to check their official website for details as they become available.
