Garden State Comic Fest: Holiday Edition 2021

What better way to get ready for this season than with Garden State Comic Fest‘s very own Holiday Show! With over 50 tables of comics, collectibles, apparel, and art, you’re bound to find the perfect gift for your friends & loved ones… and maybe even for yourself!

Garden State Comic Fest is known for having a little bit of everything for all types of collectors and their Holiday Show this year was no different! Held from December 3-5 at the Rockaway Townsquare Mall, the old Modell’s location briefly became a two-floor one-stop shop for all your geeky needs, with the lower level featuring mainly vendors and the upper level acting as the Artist Alley.

Many fan favorite vendors returned, bringing their best offerings all weekend long: NCG Comics, Collectors Crate, Dewey’s Comic City, Jackie’s Copper Creations, and Festers Funhouse… just to name a few! With plenty of bargain bins, key issues, graded comics, and other highly sought after books, you won’t be disappointed in the selection at GSCF. You could even find Stan Lee signed comics, sketch covers, and the con exclusive Marat Michaels “Do You Pooh” cover at the Komic Knights booth.

First-time vendor Snips & Co. (above) was selling their unique stitched Star Wars themed canvases, custom ornaments, jingle bells, and bottle cap magnets! And, of course, plenty of vendors selling all your favorite action figures, statues, Funko Pops, trading cards, and video games. Meanwhile, upstairs you’ll find special guest Keone Young, who most recently worked on voiceover for the English dub of Netflix’s Squid Game and Disney Plus’ Star Wars: Visions:

Another featured guest this weekend was artist Adriana Melo, making her first convention appearance in almost 2 years! Comic fans were excited to get their items signed, ranging from Harley Quinn to Star Wars (Dark Horse Comics). She also sketched her first Wonder Girl (Yara Flor) commission at the show!

There were more than 20 other artists specializing in all kinds of styles and mediums. Many had art prints for sale, but you could also pick up mainstream & indie published comics or budget out some original art to take home as well! Perhaps a couple copies of creator-owned “Virginia Creeper” by Nick Justus & Len Danovich, a hand-colored pinup from legendary Marvel colorist Bob Sharen, a classic Batman print from DC artist Anthony Marques, or an inked commission from Marvel inker Keith Williams

The Kubert School booth was also periodically rotating their art students so that attendees could discover the future generation of comic book artists! All the while, you can meet some fellow fans, check out a functioning R2-D2 unit by the Northeast Droidbuilders, or interact with the many cosplayers roaming the con! Not only were guest cosplayers Barbie Chula, Father Evil, and Cosplay Jesus in attendance but also professional cosplay group the Mandalorian Mercs:

Garden State Comic Fest: Holiday Edition is perfect for all ages and a great way to have a “con experience” outside of the large expo centers. Santa even checked twice and made the last day absolutely free to attend, giving people an extra opportunity to donate towards Eleventh Hour Rescue to support a good cause for cats & dogs in need. So you never know what to expect at Garden State Comic Fest! But be on the lookout because up next is GSCF Winter Fest from February 4-6, 2022.
