Mission 50 Presents: The Jahz Anime Art Exhibit

Mission 50, an original coworking space in Hoboken, NJ, hosted a solo Anime Art Exhibit with artist The Jahz on January 12, 2023. The event showcased his unique style of anime pop art, blending hand-painted anime characters over actual pages of Japanese manga, with canvas sizes ranging from 12″x12″ all the way to 48″x48″.

Throughout the years, Jahz has implemented his versatile background in art & design to create a wide variety of works, including these canvas paintings as well as digital art and even apparel. Along with the dozen original pieces on display at the event, he also had framed mini prints for sale featuring other popular anime and animation characters.

From 4-7pm, attendees could see Jahz’s art up-close, enjoy some complementary sushi, beer & wine, and mingle with other attendees via an assortment of games like shuffleboard, pinball, Nintendo 64, and a Marvel vs. Capcom gaming cabinet… all while being able to converse with the Englewood artist himself in the beautifully modern Mission 50 Saloon.

All in all the event was an incredible display of Jahz’s art. His use of corresponding manga pages for each character was very distinctive, the choice of specific translucent paints was innovative, and hearing about his artistic process made it evident that anime art is only one small category of his wide creative reach. Be sure to check out more from The Jahz on his social media as well as his website where he can be contacted for inquiries on available art, commissions, and more. And here are some more photos from the exhibit!
