TERRIFICON 2019 (Mohegan Sun, CT)

TERRIFICON 2019 returned to the Mohegan Sun Expo & Convention Center for 3 terrific days of non-stop comic book, pop culture, and gaming fun for all ages! From August 9-11, fans from all over the world gathered to meet some of the biggest names in the comic book industry like Jim Steranko, Chris Claremont, Alan Davis, Adam Kubert, Brian Azzarello, Tom King, Jim Starlin, and many more! This year’s TERRIFICON also brought in some amazing media guests who have helped bring comic book characters to life through live action or voice acting – talent such as Billy Dee Williams, Val Kilmer, John Barrowman, Phil LaMarr, Rob Paulsen, and Larry Kenney.

With over 400 vendors, artists, and guests, as well as a fantastic line-up in programming, fans could immerse themselves in a comic con that truly offers something special!

Some of the offerings throughout the weekend included meeting your favorite comic creators, getting autographs from world-renowned celebrities, sitting in on an action-packed panel, picking up a one-of-a-kind piece of art, or just meeting other fans who share the same interests as you! Whether it’s collecting comic books, hunting down Funko Pops, or just cosplaying as something clever, TERRIFICON had it all!

With so many great sights throughout the weekend, I’d highly recommend attending more than 1 day just to take it all in! You won’t believe how fast time flies! The experience itself is so memorable that you’ll probably want to take home some photo ops. And this year, TERRIFICON had some bat-tastic photo ops including a life-size Bat-Signal, the Michael Keaton Batmobile, and the Val Kilmer Batmobile!

There was also a plethora of remarkable collectibles all throughout the show floor. Ranging anywhere from LEGO minifigures to Star Wars Black Series action figures, and even premium statues, there was a little bit of everything for everyone!

Here are fan favorites 3D Printing by Muckychris with his pop culture themed statues and Jackie Stier Copper Creations with her custom designed copper decor:

And just like the artists in Artist Alley, many vendors with homemade products can customize your purchase – just ask!

You never know what you’ll find at TERRIFICON. Here was something that was the talk of the con: a Captain America shield with nearly 75 autographs by notable comic book creators! It was being prepped to get signed by the legendary Jim Steranko next:

And never fear, there was clearly no shortage of comic books to go around:

It’s all about the comics at TERRIFICON, with special signing engagements throughout the weekend, exclusive variants, and great deals that can be found from seller to seller.

Vendor Sword Of Truth Comics had discount books, rare wall books, and even mystery boxes that are worth more than the sticker price!

Neal Adams was also back with his eye-catching wall of prints, books, originals, and so much more! He even had some few remaining San Diego Comic Con exclusives for sale… only at TERRIFICON!

Dark Horse Comics and Topps trading cards artist Joe Corroney also had a very impressive booth, displaying his legacy posters for Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo from the Star Wars franchise. Joe was also taking commissions, where you could request original artwork to be done at the show for you to take home!

And, of course, comic book graders CGC and CBCS were busy with die-hard fans looking to submit vintage & modern books, as well as receive witnessing for autographed books at the show.

I saw many fans take part in this offered service and, with its guest lineup year after year, TERRIFICON is the perfect place to submit your books for graded Signature Series! I, for one, submitted some books that I had gotten signed as well:

I was also able to attend a signing with Donny Cates & Ryan Stegman for their hot new book Absolute Carnage #1! So many fans were lined up in the Comic Sketch Art alley to meet “The Venom Boys” and get their hands on the 1:25 virgin Adi Granov variant, or a Venom Funko to get signed:

Comic Sketch Art artist Creees was also a couple tables down, signing his new book Lab Raider #1, sketching up commissions, and selling some awesome prints like his chrome-embossed Silver Surfer/Galactus print.

Once again living up to its name, TERRIFICON was yet another terrific con! Be sure to watch more from the convention in the video below, as well as the photo gallery here. TERRIFICON will return August to 14-16, 2020! For more information, visit TERRIFICON’s website.
