Why settle for one weekend of Long Island Tropic Con when you can attend all summer long? That’s what’s happening outside the Sunrise Mall in Massapequa, NY every other weekend through August! Kicking off a new way to “con”, Long Island Tropic Con debuted their summer market on July 10, 2021 with over 50 pop culture vendors. Comic books, original art, jewelry, action figures, and all kinds of collectibles were spread across the parking lot behind Macy’s Backstage.

What makes this con special is the $3 daily admission or $15 Summer Season Pass which gets you in all 8 days of the market! So much of what you’d find at a convention was available here, with different artists & vendors tabling each event. The latest in trading cards? Whether you’re looking for hard-to-find sports cards from Heroes & Legends Collectibles (above) or some valuable Magic The Gathering or Pokemon cards from 10th Dimension Games (below), Long Island Tropic Con has you covered!

There’s a little bit of everything going on! In addition to all the merchandise for sale, the first weekend of Long Island Tropic Con featured amazing fine art, anime/manga-style art, ceramics, and even airbrushing. You could meet local artists like Peat Vazquez & Brendan Shaw of Fat Guy Inc., Stephanie Cusumano, and Mark Mazz of Atlas Unleashed & Keith Williams (below):

Plus some very cool appearances by WWE’s Buff Bagwell, Winds of the Moon Belly Dancing, and the Long Island Ghostbusters:

Look at how great that looks! So definitely get your cameras ready because if you’re into photo ops, there were some other options at Long Island Tropic Con, including a life-size Doctor Who TARDIS. And it was so thrilling to see cosplayers like Rizuki and a bunch of fans dressing up again.

All the while, radio station 102.3 WBAB was playing music and you could grab some snacks from Kevacakes, Plainview Puffs Bakery, or a tasty burger-burrito hybrid from Burgrito! There were a couple of other options inside the Sunrise Mall too, which was handy because each day at Long Island Tropic Con runs from 10am-4pm. And while you’re browsing the mall, be sure to visit Video Game Trading Post (who was also a con vendor) for all your gaming needs!

Speaking of gaming needs, console players can pick up these impressive custom controller holders from Devoted Saint Retro (above). And if woodwork is your thing, definitely take a look at MR The Artist who designs some incredible skateboards, plaques, 3D printed & prop replica-esque displays, and so much more:

It’s a super fun time and with so many booths to check out, you’ll want to explore as much as you can each weekend of Long Island Tropic Con so that you don’t miss a thing! Great for all ages and running until the end of August 2021, be sure to visit the Long Island Tropic Con page for dates, updates, and other upcoming event announcements.
