Masters of the Universe: Revelation Celebration! (Red Bank, NJ)

With the July 23rd premiere of Kevin Smith’s “Masters of the Universe: Revelation” Netflix animated series, a special celebration was held at his Red Bank comic book shop “Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash” the following two days, July 24 & 25. As showrunner, Smith himself as well as castmates Jason Mewes (Stinkor) and Griffin Newman (Orko) were in attendance to treat fans to a MOTU-filled weekend with photo ops, giveaways, and more!

This limited ticketed event sold out quickly and each day fans were let inside in waves to allow everyone enough time & space to enjoy their specified time slot. With your ticket, you were entitled to roughly 20 minutes to shop, a pro photo op with the trio, and a MOTU swag bag containing a Smith-signed Masters of the Universe Revelation comic by Dark Horse, an official show poster, and an exclusive Jay & Silent Bob themed MOTU t-shirt!

Not only did Smith talk briefly about his Netflix series but episodes of it were actually playing on the screens throughout the store! Plus, displays were decked out with the latest offerings from Dark Horse Comics and toy manufacturer Mattel which could all be purchased during the event:

Young MOTU fans were in luck, too, because if they were there in-person, they had their choice of a free (yes, free!) toy from the Netflix versions of Skelegod, Moss Man, and Battle Cat!

But not to worry, grownups! Kevin Smith, Jason Mewes, and Griffin Newman surprised us all and stuck around to sign any items you might have brought or purchased while in-store! That means you could’ve gotten a head start on a cast-signed MOTU poster, character-specific autographs, or maybe something totally unrelated to Masters of the Universe! This was also a great time to quickly chat with them on a one-on-one level… super cool and a pretty rare opportunity!

Fans had handy all kinds of memorabilia ranging anywhere from Clerks to Jay & Silent Bob Reboot! If you’ve never met these guys before at a comic con or the likes, Secret Stash events are definitely the way to go! There was, however, a slight delay to get in (even with time slots), as there is for many Secret Stash events, but believe me… every event is well worth the wait! It’s always a good crowd, a blast shopping at the store, and an even better meet & greet.

If you haven’t visited the new shop yet, here’s my look inside their Grand Opening in February 2021. And even when Kevin Smith & Jason Mewes aren’t at the store, there’s a bunch of pre-signed collectibles for sale almost all the time, so definitely check it out!

Be sure to catch Masters of the Universe: Revelation now streaming on Netflix!
