Garden State Comic Fest: Winter Fest 2023

New Jersey’s very own Garden State Comic Fest brought their Winter Fest to the Sussex County Fairgrounds for the very first time on January 28 & 29. Two days, two buildings… too fun! Here’s what happened at the con & be sure to stick around for the video at the end!

Vendors, artists, cosplayers, gaming… you name it and Garden State Comic Fest had it at their revamped wintertime event! This venue relocation allowed for more booths than prior Winter Fests and, as a result, a wider variety of art, collectibles, and activities. In fact, for the first time ever Garden State Comic Fest held Magic: The Gathering events, thanks to Nemesis Comics & Games: Chaos, Battlebond, Commander, and giveaways both days!

Not to mention an overall increase in tabletop & TCG options as well, whether you were looking for RPG dice, Pokemon & Yu-Gi-Oh cards, or deck supplies… Plus all of the quintessential things that make Garden State Comic Fest great: an assortment of vendors and a top-notch Artist Alley ranging from up & coming indie creators to comic book legends. Some of this winter’s featured creators include Tom Cook, Jan Duursema, Tom Mandrake, Bob Budiansky, Scott Hanna, Keith Williams, Adriana Melo, and Reilly Brown. Commission them for originals, pick up art prints, get your books signed, or just hang out with some of the best names in the comic industry!

All of this on top of the fact that you’re surrounded by a dozen first-class comic vendors specializing in everything from vintage to modern, with all the hits in between. There were walls full of key issues, first appearances, hard-to-find variants, and graded slabs! And with CGC facilitator Agents of Slabs on-site, fans were able to submit their own books for both raw grading and Signature Series slabs!

And we can’t forget about the vendors… Funko Pops, Lego minifigures, video games, apparel, and even lightsabers (above: DX Sabers) could be found, along with fan favorite Fester’s Funhouse with their knife/sword selection. But the perfect addition to Winter Fest at the fairground was food trucks by The Barnyard, Latin Bites, Homer’s Girls, and Moo For You. Stationed between the two buildings, it’s just what you need for a little midday pick-me-up!

Absolutely loved it, and I think this Doctor Strange cosplayer did too! And there’s more where that came from: cosplaying attendees were dressed for the occasion, in addition to special cosplay guests like Father Evil and the Mandalorian Mercs who can be seen here hunting for their latest bounty:

So get ready for even more Garden State Comic Fest as they rev up for their next convention in Morristown, NJ on June 24 & 25. You won’t want to miss it!
